  • Call for Artists - Gerlach Mural Project

    Proposal Deadline: September 30th

    Project Duration: 2024-2025

As part of a grant from Travel Nevada, Friends of Black Rock and the community of Gerlach are seeking to place eight mini-murals in Gerlach in the form of an Open Air Art Gallery. Each mural will be 4’ wide x 8’ tall. Murals will be on display throughout the town for a minimum of two years, at which time they may be auctioned off with proceeds serving as seed money for the program to continue.

This opportunity is open to all artists over the age of 18 residing within 250 miles of Gerlach, NV, who have a current or past relationship to the Gerlach community and the Black Rock Desert.

  • Fly Ranch Nature Walks

    Every Saturday (April-October)

Traverse through two distinct areas of Fly Ranch, totaling roughly two miles. Knowledgeable docents teach walkers about the flora, fauna, and natural resources as well as history of the area.

Experience three geysers including the stunning Fly Geyser, an iconic geothermal geyser that constantly sprays, depositing minerals, and enabling the growth of multi-colored algae on its surrounding natural terraces.
