Long ago, ancient Lake Lahontan covered the area and you can still see those shoreline scars today. The Black Rock Desert – High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation area contains over 1.2 million acres to explore. More

    Fly Ranch Campout – Fierce Fairytales and Folksy Science

    Friends of Black Rock-High Rock is having a fun Campout at Fly Ranch in partnership with Burning Man Project where we’ll interact with presenters on the geology of the area and hot springs, enjoy Dutch Oven Desserts, and join the Baba Yaga crew to winterize the Hut as the seasons turn at Fly Ranch.

    Updates from the Black Rock – May 2019

    It’s been a beautiful spring in the Black Rock. For a moment Desert Peach bloomed and ruled the steppes but was quickly replaced by Arrowleaf Balsamwood. Now we look for paintbrush and lupine.
