Friends of Black Rock-High Rock is hosting the Wild & Scenic Film Festival on Tour in 2020!

This year we return to the Whitney Peak Hotel, screening our films in the third-floor ballroom of the hotel.

The Wild & Scenic Film Festival on Tour is cultivated from South Yuba River Citizen League’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival, who bring the festival around the world with their On-Tour program.

We have chosen a unique line up of short films that combines stellar filmmaking, beautiful cinematography and first-rate storytelling to inform, inspire and ignite solutions and possibilities to restore the earth and human communities.

Attendees can expect to see award-winning films about nature, community activism, adventure, conservation, water, energy and climate change, wildlife, environmental justice, agriculture, and Native American and indigenous cultures.

We will have partner table expo, a special raffle for two Burning Man tickets, and a silent auction featuring a variety of prizes from our national and local partners, including Peak Design, Cliff Bar, Earth Justice, Kleen Kanteen, and Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and many local businesses. There is even a complete Gerlach Getaway for grabs that includes meals, lodging, a Fly Ranch nature walk and more!

Filmgoers will receive 10% off at Roundabout Grill, located inside the Whitney Peak Hotel. Simply show your ticket when ordering.

Friends will be hosting a VIP and members’ mixer with hors d’oeuvres and specialty cocktails from Bentley Heritage Distillery from 4:00 – 6:00 pm in the Mt. Rose Ballroom, also located on the Third Floor of Whitney Peak Hotel.
