Stonehouse Canyon is located in the Seven Troughs Range. Note that Stone House, Nevada is elsewhere.

The canyon is named for a stone house built ca. 1872<ref>"The Mining Investor," Volumes 50-51, p. 226, 1908. Photos of the Kindergarten mine, Seven Troughs and Mazuma.</ref>.
