Soldier Meadows Cleanup & Campout

Join us for a cleanup in partnership with BLM at Soldier Meadows Hot Springs!

When: Friday-Sunday July 23rd-25th

Where: Soldier Meadows (carpool and caravan option) at or near the Soldier Meadows BLM Cabin/Soldier Meadows Spring. Meet at the Visitor Center in Gerlach on Friday for a brief orientation and a chance to arrange carpools to lower our impact on the area.

Soldier Meadows is a spring-fed wetland that has been inhabited for thousands of years by Great Basin Cultures. This ancient caldera with its many seeps and springs is home to the Desert Dace, a hot water-loving minnow and a rare and endangered springtail snail that only exist in this unique habitat.

Because of its unique beauty and the vulnerability of its flora and fauna, Soldier Meadows is considered an ACEC (Area of Critical Concern).

Join us for a much-needed rehabilitation of this important site. Campout with us on Friday night to enjoy the area, eat, and set up camp for the weekend. We will have a Dutch-oven cookoff! Be prepared to camp on Friday and Saturday night, self-reliance rules.

The projects will happen on Saturday and Sunday, there is a lot to do!

Once you sign up you will get an email from us with a detailed itinerary and information on how to get there.
