Social Ride: Cassidy Mine – Steamboat loop

Cassidy Mine – Steamboat – Cassidy Mine

This fun day loop covers 18 miles of smooth to chunky roads with great views of the Black Rock Desert, Hualapai Flat, and the Calico Hills. The colorful history of the Cassidy Mine mirrors the colorful rocks of the Calico Hills. The flora and fauna is highly adapted to the desert alkali flat of the ancient Lake Lahontan lake bed. Evidence of the ancient sea’s retreat is written in stone as parallel lines of erosion in the adjacent hillsides. We will tread lightly as we pass cryptobiotic soils. Mountain bikes and gravel bikes are appropriate for this ride. Water, sunscreen, and snacks are recommended for this ride.
