Friends of Black Rock High Rock
Dear Friend,

Autumn has arrived, with blustery weather and even a little snow, and another year of summer activities has drawn to a close. Rocketry events have finished, and Burning Man's site inspection was passed on Tuesday. Hunters have been coming through at a good pace for sage grouse and mule deer, and quite a few wings have been dropped off at the NDOW collection point at the visitor station. Before you know it, the holidays will be here and we'll all be snuggled for warmth by the hearth-- but we still have some more to do before then!

Goodbye to some of our greatest supporters.
Dave Lefevre, BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner for the Black Rock Desert NCA has taken a position at the King Range NCA in Northern California's Lost Coast region. His wife Stephanie Lefevre, founder and former Executive Director for the Nevada Outdoor School, has taken a position with Humboldt State University. Stephanie contributed greatly in the growth and emergence of Friends, helping to build the AmeriCorps program in Gerlach, which in turn, helped build FBRHR. They have also been great friends and colleagues, and we will miss them (and their kids Finley and Lorelei) very much.

Justin Robbins, Black Rock NCA Park Ranger, has also left the BLM Winnemucca office for a position in the Sierra National Forest near Fresno. His great humor and dedication to public lands was a great asset to everyone in the Black Rock Desert. We wish them all the best as they continue to promote the health of public lands.

Thank you volunteers!
This year, 166 volunteers worked a total of 2,031 hours and traveled 25,690 miles, for a total in-kind value of $34,061.60. This is a marked increase from last year, attributable in part to more outreach and more people contributing their time and sweat to the benefit of the Black Rock Desert.
