Notice of Road Closure to All Traffic: Aug. 20-Sept. 3, 2008

At the Special Council Meetings on Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 27, 2008, the Council, respectively, decided and reaffirmed that for construction and repair purposes, the road that non-Indians refer to as the Soldier Meadows Road from the first cattle guard south of the junction of what non-Indians refer to as the Badger Mountain Road to the cattle guard at the southern Reservation boundary between Wednesday, August 20, 2008 to at least the evening of Wednesday, September 3, 2008, will be CLOSED to all but emergency vehicle traffic (no ATV, motorcycle, horseback (and any other animal), foot, jeep, pickup trucks including 4X4, etc.). All cattle guards are being removed from the road way and for the safety of tribal road maintenance workers, all gates next to the cattle guards are being chained and locked. Click here for Map of road closure. Emergency services will be allowed to proceed through the construction zone, and they will be provided the number for the Tribe's mobile satellite phone so tribal road maintenance workers can have advanced notice of their arrival and unlock the locked gates. For everyone's safety, including tribal road workers, the Tribe will seek prosecution of all trespassers in federal court. Watch the Upcoming Events Page on this web site for notice if a third Council meeting on this topic will be had before the scheduled August 16 Special Council Meeting.
