May 24-26, 2013, Fri-Sun: Rendezvous at Black Rock Desert- a family event; Come engage with notable scientists and specialists on the effects that climate is having on wildlife, flora and places you love in the desert and High Rock Canyon. Tours will be given of the Hot Springs, High Rock Canyon, Soldier Meadows and more. Come experience the true history and culture of these areas through a Paiute Elder knowledge. Nevada Outdoors School will be holding a certified ATV safety training and kids camp. Bring your culinary wiles to the pot luck dinner and spread your blanket and get cozy to watch movies on a inflatable screen. BYO tent or trailer for camping.BASE CAMP LOCATION: will be at the foot of Cassidy Mine on the north side of the playa. Come on at 12 mile and follow the signs. Camps begin to set up on Friday- so you can't miss it! See you there!

Where exactly in the Black Rock Desert is everyone camping for the Rendezvous? I'm assuming I must be completely self-contained & that includes a Portable Environmental Toilet.
Rendezvous camping
At this writing we aren't 100% sure where the event will be centered but it will probably be within a few miles of the pavement at the 12 mile playa entrance. Portapotties will be provided. Keep checking back for updates and a map to the event site. Yes, you must bring all your own gear, water, etc but there's usually a potluck dinner one night.
