On Thursday August 12th through Sunday August 15th the Friends of the Black Rock/High Rock will host the annual Perseids Meteor Shower Campout.

The Perseids meteor shower will peak during the evening of Aug 12 and the morning of Aug 13, but should give a good showing throughout the week. The Black Rock Desert, the largest flat expanse on North America, provides an unique experience for viewing the night sky.

The New Moon is on the 10th and will set just after 9pm on the 12th. Venus, Mars, and Saturn will all be close to the thin, crescent Moon on the evening of the 13th.

Will Roger, President of the Friends of the Black Rock/High Rock and Burning Man board member will be the camp host and be serving up his famous margaritas on Saturday night.

LEAVE NO TRACE. BE PREPARED.
This is a very remote location with no available services nor shade of any kind. Please come prepared. Bring everything you need to survive. (A porti-potty will be provided.)
