Annual Membership Meeting Notes
May 30, 2010 - 5:30PM

Board Member Attendance: Dave Cooper, Will Roger Peterson, David Book, Liz Margerum, Debbie Smith (Will is proxy for Wayne de Geere and David Book is proxy for Lucy M. Hall)
Staff Attendance: Matthew Ebert and Janet Moran

Meeting brought to order by President Will Roger Peterson.

Metric reviewed the Annual Report. Copies were handed out to members present.

• Election of Board Members: All those on the ballot were reelected = Will Roger Peterson, Debbie Smith, Jim Kurdna and Wayne de Geere.

• Election of Officers:
David Book moved and Graham Stafford 2nd to elect Dave Cooper as President. Unanimous

Dave Cooper moved and Graham Stafford 2nd to elect Will Roger Peterson as Vice President. Unanimous vote.

Will nominated David Book for Secretary and Dave Cooper 2nd. Unanimous

Will nominated Janet Moran as Treasurer and Debbie 2nd. Unanimous

• Human Resources Manual: The HR committee has sent the final document to the Executive Director so that changes can be incorporated into the final document. The HR policies have been looked at by a legal team.

• Bylaw changes: Several minor changes have been made. Our mission statement has been included. The policy to allow a proxy for a board member has been limited to one time per year and membership levels were changed.

• Discussion about the Future:
Comments included that we would like to see an increase in membership;
We need good articles for the newsletter;
Suggested that we talk to the Sierra Club at their meeting in November;
Suggested that maybe we do a 4th of July activity or provide outreach;
Suggested we provide local services for people that use the Black Rock;
Suggested renting Jalisco's for Friends use and provide services for members;
Suggested large donations that could be put into a trust for use by Friends.

• Appreciation Awards:
Will Roger Peterson, David Book and Debbie Smith were recognized for their contributions to the Friends of Black Rock.
