Become a Fly Ranch Nature Walk Docent!

If you share our passion for beautiful places and the history and ecology of our wild spaces, then you might consider volunteering as a Docent with Friends of Black Rock at the iconic Fly Geyser for our Saturday Nature Walks! 

Before you sign up to become a Docent please read the requirements & fill out this questionnaire to start the process:

Walks begin with check-in! Docents must stop by our Visitor Center first, collect materials & assist in check-in, then head off leading the group from the Visitor Center to Fly Ranch. 

Docent Requirements:

Attend at least one Nature Walk and complete an on-site orientation. Dates for these include the first four Nature Walks of the year, held each Saturday during the month of April 2024 (additional monthly dates will become available throughout the year on a need-by-need basis)

-Attend one additional Nature Walk as a Support Docent

-Read the Fly Ranch Nature Walk Docent Guide (Available below)

-Be familiar with Leave No-Trace principles (Training will be offered to our dedicated docents)

*Wilderness First Aid  & CPR is highly recommended.  Red Cross offers online and hybrid courses in First Aid and CPR. Lists of courses can be found here: https://www.redcross.org
