2016 Artist-in-Residence Program

Welcome to our 2016 Artist-in-Residence page. Here you will find all the content you need for our 2016 program. We are excited to be hosting the Black Rock Desert NCA Artist-in-Residence program for a third year thanks to support from the BLM.

Our Artist-in-Residence program seeks to promote awareness of the exceptional places protected within the BLM’s National Conservation Lands.

2016 Artist-in-Residence Program

group photoThe 2016 Artist-in-Residence program was opened up to all media types. Applications ranged from photographers to painters to sculptors to literary artists to a textile artist. Mixed media artist Megan Berner and sculptor Deborah Finley were selected for the 2016 program.

Both Megan and Deborah completed their residencies throughout the early summer, allowing them to attend the Black Rock Rendezvous. Megan and Deborah both worked with Gerlach locals to teach them about their particular artistic style.

In 2016, there was an opening reception at the Gerlach Community Center followed by a two week exhibit at the Sierra Arts Foundation gallery in Reno. Attendees at both receptions were awed by the clay creations of Deborah and Megan’ photography.

We would like to thank our selected artists for the 2016 program,  Megan Berner and Deborah Finley. Without the hard work of our artists, we couldn’t keep this program going.
